FYEG points out the problem of Violence Against Women
Thursday, 25 November 2010
The 25th of November is the official day of Violence Against Women, and FYEG wants to raise awareness of this problem permeating every society. Millions of women from all over the world are threatened with violence, held against their will, exploited for sex, forced to work and killed with around two million being trafficked each year according to UN estimates. Women are often the most vulnerable, especially in the Global South, due to poverty, inequality, systemic discrimination and prejudice in a Western and male dominated world.

UK Young Greens Participate in Occupation of Conservative Party Headquarters
Friday, 12 November 2010
FYEG Co-spokespersons Delfina Rossi and Sebastian Power support the ongoing actions of the Young Greens of England and Wales fighting against possibly the harshest austerity measures in Europe. 40% of the education budget is being slashed whilst higher education tuition fees are being trebled to £9,000 annually. The postal system is being privatised whilst the National Health Service and schools are being partly privatised. Disability allowance and housing benefits are being reduced forcing an estimated 200,000 people from their homes – tantamount to socially cleansing inner city areas. Women, those with disabilities, ethnic minorities and children will suffer the most from these unnecessary ideological policies.

Report: FYEG @ EGP Council in Tallinn
Friday, 22 October 2010

If one single word sums up FYEG's state of mind at the EGP Council in Tallinn, held from October 8th to 10.th it is clearly the word ¨busy¨. Apart from the regular representation tasks, informal meetings with national delegations and different networks inside of the EGP, FYEG also took time to seriously get involved in the political debate.

Getting involved in the debate usually requires attending the fringe meeting, where different topics and the relating resolutions are debated within smaller groups. Usually it is here where you can get a very good feel of the general opinion on matters or the sheer lack thereof. By splitting up meetings between EC members and by the generous help of different FYEG activists present in Tallinn, it was possible to gather as much information as possible. Additionally, FYEG held its very own fringe meeting, to present the federation to new people and also answer some of the concrete questions that different MO representatives were bringing up.

Dear Member Organisations,

we are happy to announce that the FYEG Structure process will continue with another meeting from the 19th to the 21st of November in Zagreb, Croatia. The main aim of this meeting will be the restructuring of our Internal Rules and Procedures as there have been complaints – especially since the last GA of FYEG – that the IRPs might need some "cleaning up".
