The General Assembly decided to welcome 2 new full members: Gron Ungdom (Sweden) and The Young Greens from Andorra, and 4 new candidate organisations: Mladí Zelení (Slovakia), Georgian Young Greens, Association for Sustainable Human Development – Youth Section (Armenia) and Young Greens South Tyrol, thus growing to more than 30 full member organisations and 37 member organisations on the whole.

In front of the upcoming elections to the European Parliament in 2009, FYEG adopted its Young Green Manifesto “A Green Europe or No Europe”, which is the foundation of the common campaign. Furthermore two position papers on the Future of the European Union and on the Green perspective on socio-economy were adopted, alongside resolutions on peace and defence and basic income. Reforms of the internal structures of FYEG have also been adopted, among which the set-up of a financial control committee, of an eco-mobility fund, as well as of a new structure of the executive committee.

With respect to the focuses of FYEG for the upcoming year, the General Assembly expressed full commitment to organising an EP elections campaign concentrated on empowering young people to become candidates and helping young candidates with their campaigns. For political topics, climate change, fundamental rights, Green economy, migration, peace and gender issues.  Together, they reaffirmed their commitment for transforming Europe into a Fresh and Green space.

The new Executive Committee would like to thank the German Young Greens for their help in organising the General Assembly, the former Executive Committee members for their great work and all the participants and guests for their commitment to FYEG.
