Dear Young Greens, FYEG - Federation of Young European Greens - is looking for young green volunteers willing to take on the challenge of relaunching FYEG's WG on gender issues. The main goal of the Gender WG is to organise activities around the issue, to start discussions on different related topics and to evaluate the structures of FYEG regarding gender equality and empowerment of women. We are currently planning a study session in Strasbourg on "Gender: Work in Progress!" in cooperation with the Youth Center in September this year. Futhermore, there will be other activities planned and organised within the group. Your ideas count here:)! Members of the WG are also free and invited to take initiative they would like to achieve as part of their activity in this group. To join the WG on Gender or obtain more information, please send an email to terry [at] fyeg.org not later than 4th of July 2010, explaining your motivation and including a recommendation letter from the National board of your organisation. What are working groups? Working groups are FYEGs think tanks according to FYEGs Internal Rules of Procedure. They gather groups of FYEG members, who would like to work on a particular topic: gather knowledge, examine cases, lobby for solutions. WGs will be given a mailing list. Working groups can be seen as a think-tank but can also serve other needs: prepare activities for FYEG to carry out, train own and other members. Combating gender cliches in a strive for an equal society - will be your contribution, feminist theory and best practices for providing solutions to reach equality of all genders, will be our tool. We are looking forward working and having fun with you! All the best!!! Terry Reintke, terry [at] fyeg.org FYEG Coordinator of the WG on Gender issues |
