Call for prep-team: Queering Green Theory/Greening Queer Theory

FYEG will organise a seminar in cooperation with the Green European Foundation with the title "Queering Green Theory/Greening Queer Theory" in Zagreb, Croatia from the 11th to the 16th April 2012. This seminar will be the first part of a series of three seminars on the Balkans in 2012 concerning the issue of LGBTQ with the Green European Foundation.

During this first seminar we want to discuss the academic and activist dimension of Queer Theory. We want to assess questions such as: What does it mean to "be gay or Lesbian"? How is it connected with broader concepts such as sexuality, identity, bodiness etc.? How can we as Greens address LGTBQ as a Human Rights issue?

The main aims of the seminar are to:

education on LGBTQ rights
preparing specific actions for the second seminar
cooperating with the LGBTQ scene in Croatia

This is the call for the prepatory team for the seminar.

Prep-team composition, tasks and meetings

The preparatory team will consist of five people in total: two people will come from the provisional prepteam and three others from FYEG member organisations. The membership of the preparatory team is based on a geographical and gender balance as well as between people with solid experience in the field and without. This team will then be in charge of the implementation of the event: the selection of participants, programme development and realisation, reporting etc. The prepteam will also be in intensive contact with local coordinators in order to mobilize them to take responsibility for arranging local practicalities.

The prepteam will have two meetings at the venue's place in Croatia (to be confirmed). The first 2-day meeting will be held in February/March 2012 and the second meeting will be held two days before the main event. In between the meeting the members of the preparatory team will communicate through the special mailing list and skype conferences.

The prepteam will be prepare a reader, an agenda, information sheet and all other necessary documents and forms. The prepteam is also in charge of reporting the seminar to the Green European Foundation.
