Terry Reintke, Co-Spokesperson of FYEG, commented on the ongoing occupations and demonstrations: "These non-violent demonstrations show exactly that people want to participate, that they care for the society that they are living in and that they need real access to decision-making. We are demanding nothing less than a revolutionary change in how democracy is understood in our societies. We want to smash all forms of oppression!" Nic Schaefers, Co-Spokesperson of FYEG, added to this: "The financial and economic crisis has come to a point where we realise that changes within the current economic system that is rootedare not enough anymore. What we need is a system change for a sustainable and fair world economy. This new economic system should be based on equality, solidarity, respect for the environment and natural resources." |
