Call for Office Financial Assistant

FYEG is opening a vacancy of OFFICE FINANCIAL ASSISTANT. This is a paid part-time position starting from 1st of September in its Brussels office.

Location: Rue Wiertz 31, 1050 Brussels, Belgium
Working time: 19 hours / week, flexible working hours
Renumeration: 700 Euro gross / month + additional benefits
Contract type: contract for one year with a possibility of prolonging.

Role description:

The OFFICE FINANCIAL ASSISTANT will be responsible for assisting in the financial management of FYEG's projects and activities. We are looking for a person who is well- organized, meticulous and capable of working with invoices, spreadsheets, and numbers. Office Financial Assistant will be reporting directly to Secretary General of FYEG and working closely with FYEG's Treasurer and Office Project Manager.

FYEG is an international NGO registered and operating under Belgian law. We are a dynamic youth organisation that unites Green youth movements, young Green activists and political organisations from all over Europe. We organize youth projects, summer camps, international training, conferences, campaigns for political change and serve as a youth lobbying organization and a platform for the exchange of ideas and knowledge. Requirements:

  • Some experience in administrative or financial work,

  • Ability to work independently and good organization of one's work,

  • Attention to details, good ability to work on numbers and performing administrative tasks,

  • Experience in using financial spreadsheets (i.e. excel, google docs, openoffice),

  • Good computer skills and ability to use various software, especially open source,

  • Good knowledge of English language,

  • Good knowledge of French or Dutch language.

 Skills that would be additional asset:

  • Knowledge of Belgian law, especially concerning labor law, NGOs and finances,
  • Knowledge of Green movement and Green politics,

  • Experience in managing finances of a non-governmental organization.

Responsibilities:

  • Preparing project financial documentation in cooperation with Project Manager,

  • Collecting and archivizing financial documents (bills, invoices, receips),

  • Preparing invoices for third parties,

  • Preparing bank transfers and liaising with FYEG's bank,

  • Tracking all project expenses in financial spreadsheets,

  • Establishing working relationship with FYEG's accounting company,

  • Liaising with social security and insurance companies and agencies (Securex),

  • Assisting Secretary General and Project Manager with ad-hoc financial and administrative tasks.
