Beyond Growth Platform open call

The Beyond Growth Platform (BGP) is looking for fellow young greens to join us on our mission to strive for a future beyond growth in Europe and beyond!

Who we are:

The BGP is a working group with the aim of dedicating space for young greens to explore post-growth in FYEG, driven by a common mission:

  • To understand post-growth through knowledges from the Global North and Global South,

  • To expand and strengthen FYEG’s political platform on post-growth, and

  • To advocate for post-growth in European politics and public discourse.

The BGP aims to explore and advocate for post-growth holistically, intersectionally, and through a decolonial understanding – ensuring the post-growth we advocate for is one based on global solidarity, wellbeing, and empowerment of the many.

Why you should join the BGP:

The BGP offers a space to actively shape the post-growth debate and steer FYEG’s position in this. The Platform is currently divided into three subgroups: Research, Campaigns & Media, Events & Outreach.

Depending on the subgroup you join, as a member, you would get to:

  • Be a part of a working group of fellow young greens passionate about the post-growth agenda;

  • Collectively research and explore post-growth theories from the Global North and Global South, shaping and steering the BGP and FYEG’s position based on this research;

  • Push for the post-growth agenda within FYEG, the Greens, and beyond, through working on social media outputs, resolutions, statements, articles, and more;

  • Be actively involved in post-growth civil society and contribute to its development, through collaborating with other post-growth organisations, taking part in (international) events, organising initiatives, and more.

Who you should be:

Although anyone can apply, it is highly recommended to have some knowledge or experience in alternative sustainable development (such as degrowth, circular economy, Ecological Swaraj, Buen Vivir, convivial conservation, etc.) or relevant fields.

We especially recommend perspectives of young greens from South and East Europe, and from the Global South!

You should be:

  • Affiliated with the (European) Green family in some way presently or in the past or aligned with BGP’s and FYEG’s values;

  • Committed to BGP’s mission of post-growth and motivated to work together to advocate for it;

  • Reliable and accountable. The BGP meets for one hour weekly on most weeks, on Wednesday at 19.00 CET. You are not expected to attend every week, but we hope that if you want to join, you’re willing to invest your time with us!

You will be fully supported by FYEG Executive Committee Member Srish as EC Coordinator, and Lena Zehne and Mia Uremović as Working Group Coordinators.

The BGP works in English. Do you have difficulties with this? That’s okay! Be sure to let us know when you apply!

How to apply:

You can apply here until Wednesday, 31st January at 23.59 CET. If you have any questions, please contact us beyondgrowth@fyeg.org.
