Call for Members of Beyond Growth Platform

Join the new Beyond Growth Platform and join fellow young greens in expanding FYEG’s progressive platform on post-growth and striving for a future beyond growth!

The context we are in:

The capitalist model of constant (economic) growth we live in today does not work. We have seen record growth and concentration of wealth for the few, at the expense of the many - not just between the rich and the poor, but between the Global North and the Global South.

FYEG stands for a society of solidarity and equality for all, one that lifts up and stands for the most marginalised and underprivileged. We need to think beyond growth, and look towards alternative development, transforming society from unchecked constant growth of the few, to active wellbeing and empowerment of the many.

As the debate of moving beyond growth grows, FYEG must lead and position ourselves at the forefront of the debate. When we think of the Greens, we must think beyond growth.

Why join:

The Beyond Growth Platform is your opportunity to work with fellow young greens at shaping FYEG’s economic policy and the future of the debate on growth. You will get to help steer FYEG’s political direction, learn more about the organisation itself, and develop your research and political experience.

Objectives of the Beyond Growth Platform:

  • Providing a platform to research and expand FYEG’s work on post-growth and alternative development approaches.

  • Drafting of documents on post-growth, e.g. policy reports, amendments to the Political Platform and resolutions at the GA or EGPC, manifestos, statements, etc.

  • Working with other progressive organisations in shaping the debate on post-growth.

Your profile:

Who we are looking for:

  • Young greens with an interest in economic policy, particularly on alternative development,

    • Knowledge or experience in alternative sustainable development theories (such as degrowth, circular economy, Ecological Swaraj, Buen Vivir, convivial conservation, etc.) or relevant fields ( is an advantage, but not necessary!;

  • The platform is open to all. We are particularly looking for perspectives of young greens from South and East Europe, and from the Global South!

Who you should be:

  • A member of one of FYEG’s Member Organisations or observer organisations, or an individual who shares the same values of FYEG;

  • Available to commit to biweekly online meetings (starting in April 2023 for about at least a year, we will discuss during the first meeting how much everyone can commit!);

  • Comfortable working in English (Do you have difficulties with this? That’s okay! Be sure to let us know when you apply!).

What your responsibilities are:

  • Active participation and involvement in the Platform, including regular online meetings;

  • Researching various post-growth approaches and viewpoints;

  • Keeping track of developments in post-growth, particularly in the EU;

  • Working together to draft policies and statements regarding post-growth.

You will be fully supported by a member of the FYEG Executive Committee, Srish, as EC Coordinator, and the Working Group Coordinators, which, besides Theodor and Hugo, will be open to those interested.

Want to work with other young greens on putting FYEG at the forefront of the beyond growth debate? Apply to join the Beyond Growth Platform HERE! The deadline for applying to the Beyond Growth Platform is Sunday, 12th of March at 23.59 CET.

If you have any questions, please contact EC Member Srish (srishagon.abraham@fyeg.org). Members will be notified of the selection results late-March.
