Call for Summer Camp Participants 2023

The Federation of Young European Greens (FYEG) announces an open call for participants for the summer camp ‘Writing the Green Stories’, an international activity that will take place in Våxtorp, Sweden from 15 to 20 July 2023 (arrival on 14 July morning, departure on 21 July).

The summer camp will take place over 6 days. The programme created by the Preparatory team, with special contributions of experts and trainers, will focus on political narrative building.

We will be trained in the basics of campaigning and how to frame complex issues through clear messages and powerful stories. We will explore the most prominent topics in the present European debate – security, democratic processes, climate crisis, and more. Following this narrative-based approach, participants will be guided by two experts to develop the foundational document that outlines the winning story and messages to influence policy at election time as a young Green activist. The concrete objectives are to:

  1. Explore prominent political narratives.

  2. Equip participants with practical skills in the context of building political narratives and spreading the Young Green message.

  3. Build a common European green message and narrative.

FYEG aims to bring together a diverse group of young people who will help create a green narrative for young campaigners across Europe - from Dublin to Tbilisi, from Oslo to Nicosia. To do this, we need you. Our diverse and unique lived experiences, perspectives, and beliefs are what make us green. Help us define what Europe's future should look like and what we should do to get there.

One day at the summer camp will be dedicated to Peace and Security, thanks to the Summer School: The Green Narrative on Peace and Security organised in collaboration with the Green European Foundation.

The learning space will be designed for young activists (15-35) from across Europe. In 2023, it is impossible to discuss any event without mentioning security – in every sense of the word.

The three sessions, organised by GEF with the support of FYEG, will facilitate learning about what security is and what it can mean in different regional contexts in Europe, in the light of past conflicts, crises, and current trends. The session will be led by carefully selected experts/moderators. Following this, space will be given to those directly affected by the recent conflict in Ukraine to share their thoughts, experiences, and ideas for moving forward. After the Summer School, participants will be able to talk about security in an informed and holistic way. The participants will get a chance to apply the learnings in practice in their committee work.
